Sources of COVID-19 data in Scotland
From Monday 11 April 2022, all headline COVID-19 data are sourced from Public Health Scotland’s (PHS) COVID-19 Daily Dashboard. The Scottish Government no longer provides updates to the figures on the Coronavirus (COVID-19): daily data for Scotland page on the Scottish Government website or on the COVID-19 management information dataset on www.statistics.gov.scot. PHS will provide open data behind all of the latest COVID-19 daily data on their open data platform, alongside the large number of datasets already available.
Data on statistics.gov.scot
The last update to the COVID-19 management information dataset on www.statistics.gov.scot took place on Wednesday 13 April and the dataset was renamed “COVID-19 management information – data up to 11 April 2022”. The corresponding GitHub COVID-19 management information repository was also renamed to GitHub COVID-19 management information (data up to 11 April 2022)
Note that these datasets will not be deleted and API access to these datasets will still be unchanged. Metadata for these datasets will point users to PHS datasets so that humans and machines can find these data, and that products built using these data can be updated.
Further information on the changes to the datasets can be found within the Scottish Government Statistics blog: Future of COVID-19 Data Reporting.
The Deaths Involving Coronavirus (COVID-19) open dataset, which is produced by National Records of Scotland (NRS), will continue to be updated on www.statistics.gov.scot after 9:30 a.m. every Thursday.
